General provisions

Article 25, Section 3.3(6)(a-1)

The minimum setback along Defense Road from Banister Road west to State Route 142 (Boydton Plank Road) shall be one hundred fifty (150) feet.

Article 25, Section 3.3(6)(c)

No setback of any building shall be required on the south side of East Tabb Street, between North Sycamore Street and Monroe Street.

Such development may be permitted on tracts of at least ten (10) acres which are under unified ownership or control.

Article 29, Section 1

Article 31, Section 12 standards

No building shall be erected, constructed, altered, moved, converted, extended, or enlarged without the owner or owners having obtained a building permit therefor from the building inspector; such permit shall require conformity with the provisions of this ordinance. When issued, such permit shall be valid for a period of six (6) months.

Article 31, Section 21 standards

All applications for building permits shall be accompanied by a drawing or plat, in duplicate, or as required by the building inspector, showing, with dimensions, the lot lines, the building or buildings, the location of buildings on the lot, and other such information as may be necessary to provide for the enforcement of these regulations...

Article 31, Section 32 standards

The submission of fees at the time of application and the payment of fees prior to application is required. Prior to the initiation of an application any delinquent real estate taxes, nuisance charges, stormwater management utility fees, and any other charges that constitute a lien on the subject property, that are owed to the locality and have been properly assessed against the subject property, have been paid.

Article 32, Section 1

If, because of error or omission in the zoning district map, any property in the City of Petersburg is not shown as being a zoning district, the classification of such property shall be classified 'R-1' Single-Family Residence District, until changed by amendment.

Article 32, Section 2

In any case where a parcel of land has been designated as a Chesapeake Bay preservation area as defined in the City of Petersburg Code of Ordinances section 122-31 of chapter 12, Waterways, as either a resource protection area or a resource management area, then the City of Petersburg Code of Ordinances chapter 122, article II, Chesapeake Bay preservation areas will apply, in addition to the requirements of this section.

Article 33, Section 45 standards

Any person or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance... shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be liable to a fine of not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).

Article 35, Sections 1-206 standards

No building permit ... shall be issued for the erection, construction, alteration or restoration of the exterior of any building or structure, including signs, or part thereof, within a historic area, unless and until the applicant shall have secured a certificate of appropriateness from the architectural review board.
