Parking

• Compact parking spaces prohibitedProhibitedNot allowed in the district at all, short of rezoning or a variance.

  Compact parking spaces shall not be allowed anywhere in the City.

• Parking at grade for multi-familyMultifamily dwellingA building of four or more dwelling units. Where zoning is most restrictive. projects shall be in rear 40% of site40 pct

  Parking at grade shall be located in the rear 40 percent of the site.

• Additional parking for nonresidential up to 50% above minimum50 pct

  Additional spaces up to a maximum of 50 percent above the required minimum/maximum are allowed as a matter of right

• Parking requirements for residential additions

  If the addition exceeds 500 square feet and is equal to or less than 1,200 square feet: a minimum of two parking spaces shall be provided on-site. Any addition exceeding 1,200 square feet shall require a two-car covered parking structure. Any addition exceeding 150 square feet in Hillside Overlay Zone shall require a two-car covered parking structure.

• At least one space per unit on-site for new residential in commercial districts1 space per unit

  At least one space for each unit shall be located on-site so that tenants can park near their unit.

• Reduced vertical clearance for front 4 feet of residential parking4.5 ft

  Vertical clearance for the front four feet of a parking space serving a residential use may be reduced to not less than four feet, six inches feet in height.

  Up to 30 percent of the total off-street parking spaces provided may incorporate tandem parking.
