Lighting

• Hotel rooftop lighting heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first.20 ft

  Such Light Sources shall be mounted at a height of 20 feet or less above the roof top surface.

• Light source candela limit for visibility300 candelas

  Light Sources (i.e. bulb or lamp) which exceed 300 Candelas (approximately equivalent to a 200-watt incandescent light bulb) within the range from 45 degrees above horizontal to 21 degrees below horizontal as measured at the Light Source shall not be visible from Existing Off-Site Residential Uses located outside of the combined boundary of the Universal Studios Specific Plan area and the adjacent City [Q]C2 Area.

• Light source full cut-off threshold10,000 candelas

  Light Sources greater than 10,000 Candela, as determined by the manufacturer, shall be full cut-off type.

• Maximum footcandles at property line2 footcandles

  Light Sources shall be designed and maintained so as to produce not more than two footcandles of illumination as measured at the property line of the nearest residentially zoned property outside of the combined boundaries of the adjacent City [Q]C2 Area and Universal Studios Specific Plan area.

• Office building light reduction after 10pm

  In office buildings greater than four stories in height and abutting Lankershim Boulevard, the property owner shall implement, at the property owner's election, one or a combination of the following features to reduce the visibility of all interior lights of offices facing north or west after 10:00 p.m.

• Surface parking lot cut-off fixtures

  New surface parking lot lighting shall be installed with cut-off fixtures.
