• Prohibition on toxic chemicals

  The use of insecticides, herbicides, anti-coagulant rodenticides or any toxic chemical substance which has the potential to significantly degrade biological resources in the Santa Monica Mountains shall be prohibited, except where necessary to protect or enhance the habitat itself

• Prohibition on clearing to bare earth

  At no time shall clearing to bare earth or discing be acceptable methods of vegetation removal and/or maintenance within fuel modification areas.

• Removal of locally-indigenous vegetation

  The removal, trimming, thinning or other reduction of locally-indigenous vegetation, is prohibited except when required for construction of an approved development and/or for compliance with fuel modification requirements for approved or lawfully existing development.

• Prohibition on invasive species

  The use of invasive plant species is prohibited. Existing invasive plant species within the development footprint on the site shall be removed.

• Landscape plan requirement

  Landscape plans shall be submitted with an application for new development. The landscape plans shall be prepared by a licensed landscape architect or qualified resource specialist and include a scale map of the project site that shows the location, species, and size of each plant to be included in the site landscaping as well as a detailed depiction of the proposed irrigation system.

• Revegetation coverage90 pct

  Landscaping or revegetation shall provide 90 percent coverage within five years, or that percentage of ground cover demonstrated locally appropriate for a healthy stand of the particular native vegetation type chosen for revegetation.
