  • Approach slope geometry

    Approach slope begins 100 feet from end of runway, extends 5,000 feet at 15:1 slope, width expands to 1,200 feet.

  • Clear zone distance

    Clear zone extends 1,000 feet from runway.

  • Conflicting regulations

    Where there exists a conflict between any of the regulations or limitations prescribed in this article and other regulations, the more stringent limitation or requirement shall govern.

  • Existing nonconforming structures may continue but must allow installation of markers and lights as deemed necessary.

  • Permit required

    No structure shall be erected or otherwise established in any zone created by this article unless a permit therefor shall have been applied for and granted.

  • No use may be made of land or water in such manner as to create electrical interference with navigational signals, diminish pilot ability to distinguish airport lights, result in glare, impair visibility, create bird strike hazards, or otherwise endanger aircraft.

  • Reconstruction after destruction

    If a nonconforming structure is abandoned or more than 50% destroyed, no permit shall be granted to rebuild it to exceed the height limit.

  • Transitional surface geometry

    Transitional surface extends 1,666.7 feet at 5:1 slope.

These zones are established as overlay zones, superimposed over the existing base zones... no structure shall be erected, altered or maintained, and no vegetation shall be allowed to grow to a height so as to penetrate any referenced surface.
