Parking

• Gravel parking allowed for certain uses in M-1, M-2, M-3, PIP, RAM districts

  In lieu of pavement, gravel or bituminous surfaced parking and loading areas shall be permitted as follows: For the parking, storage or display of heavy equipment, farm machinery, tractor-trailer or other specialty vehicles in the M-1, M-2, M-3, PIP, and RAM districts, when: All driveways providing access to such parking areas are improved with an approved pavement surface; and when such parking areas are visible from an adjacent residentially zoned parcel or lot containing a residential use, such parking area shall be screened in accordance with section 25-484(c); and when such parking areas are visible from the adjacent public rights of way, such parking area shall be screened in accordance with section 25-485(c)(2).

• Maximum driveway openings per parking lot2 openings

  Driveway openings through the curb shall be a maximum of two (2) per parking lot, excluding shopping center parking lots.

• Minimum aisle width for 30-degree parking17 ft

  The minimum aisle space for thirty-degree parking shall be seventeen (17) feet in width.

• Minimum aisle width for 60-degree parking23 ft

  The minimum aisle space for sixty-degree parking shall be twenty-three (23) feet in width.

• Minimum aisle width for 90-degree parking24 ft

  The minimum aisle space for ninety-degree parking shall be twenty-four (24) feet in width.

• Minimum aisle width for any parking angle16 ft

  in no case shall the aisle width be less than sixteen (16) feet.

• Minimum distance from driveway opening to property line12.5 ft

  There shall be not less than twelve and one-half (12½) feet from any driveway opening to any property line.

• Minimum distance between driveway openings25 ft

  There shall be not less than twenty-five (25) feet between driveway openings.

• Minimum driveway width for one-way traffic12 ft

  No driveway opening shall be less than twelve (12) feet in width if designed for one-way traffic.

• Parking location requirement

  All required off-street parking spaces required herein shall be located on the same lot as the structure or use to which they are accessory, or on a lot contiguous thereto which has the same zoning classification and is under the same ownership, except that the zoning administrator may authorize an alternative location provided that the required parking spaces are located within five hundred (500) feet walking distance of a building entrance to the use that such space serves.

• Parking of commercial vehicles and trailers for home occupationsHome occupationA business run from a dwelling, permitted so long as it stays subordinate to living there.

  Parking of not more than one (1) commercial vehicle and/or one (1) cargo/utility trailer associated with an approved home occupation shall be permitted, provided that such vehicles shall not include any tractor trailer or vehicle exceeding one and one-half (1½) ton capacity; cargo or utility trailers shall not exceed eight (8) feet, six (6) inches in width or sixteen (16) feet in length. Parking for such vehicles shall not be in any required front yard.

• Prohibition of large vehicle parking in residential districts

  Outdoor storage or overnight parking of buses, trucks or other vehicles exceeding one and one-half (1½) ton capacity shall not be permitted in residential districts.

• Parking of recreational vehicles in residential districts

  Parking of small cargo trailers and recreational vehicles or equipment in a residential district including but not limited to boats, boat trailers, camping trailers, travel trailers, motorized dwellings, tent trailers, houseboats and horse vans, are subject to the following limitations: Such equipment shall not be used for living, sleeping or other occupancy when parked or stored on a residential lot... Such equipment six (6) feet or more in average height, not parked or stored in a garage, carport or other structure, shall not be located in any required front or side yard and shall be located at least three feet from all buildings.
