The following uses are permitted in this district: Surface mining; Subsurface mining; Subsurface mineral extraction to include the exploration of and drilling for oil, natural gas, or petroleum; and Quarrying. The excavations shall be confined to areas a distance at least 100 feet from any and all adjoining property lines in any residential, business, or agricultural district and distance at least 200 feet from any dwelling or any and all property lines of any platted subdivision. Any building containing power-driven or power-producing machinery or equipment shall be distant at least 600 feet from all adjacent property in any residential, business, or agricultural district or the right-of-way lines of any existing or platted street, road, or highway.

Whenever there shall be plans in existence, approved by either the state department of highways or by the board of supervisors for the widening of any street or highway, the commission may recommend additional front yard setbacks for any new construction or for any structures altered or remodeled adjacent to the future planned right-of-way in order to preserve and protect the right-of-way for such proposed street or highway widening.
