  • B-3 exemption from parking requirements

    The parking requirements in this article apply to all districts except the B-3, Central Commercial District, where no special requirements are imposed.

  • Compact car spaces shall have a minimum size of 7½' × 15'.

  • Curb required

    All parking lots shall be bordered by a curb of asphalt, concrete or other material acceptable to the city engineer.

  • Fractional spaces round up

    Where fractional spaces result, the parking spaces required shall be construed to be the next highest whole number.

    Whenever a building or use constructed after the date of this ordinance is changed or enlarged in floor area, number of employees, number of dwelling units, seating capacity or otherwise to create a need for an increase of ten (10) percent or more in the number of existing parking spaces, such spaces shall be provided on the basis of the enlargement or change.

    Residential parking requirements for single-family, duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, and townhomes, must be accommodated in the form of a driveway that meets the minimum parking space requirements and design standards of this article.

  • Individual space marking

    All parking lots, regardless of the number of spaces, must have individual spaces marked. Such spaces shall be laid out on the parking surface with paint or plastic stripping which shall provide a permanent delineations between spaces.

  • Each individual space must total one hundred eighty (180) square feet using either 9' × 20' or 10' × 18' dimensions.

  • Parking lot surface

    All off-street parking lots shall be surfaced with asphalt, concrete or other impermeable surface to protect against potholes, erosion and dust unless an alternative surface is allowed by the city engineer to control stormwater runoff.

  • Minimum island size is 180 square feet and any groundcover plantings shall be set back 6 feet from the trunk of each tree, unless used for bioretention.

  • Tree island ratio1 per 8 spaces

    One tree island is required for every eight (8) or fewer parking spaces.

Except as otherwise provided in this ordinance, all structures and land uses constructed, enlarged, erected or extended shall provide off-street parking spaces in accordance with the provisions of this article.
