Floodplain
- Anchoring required
New construction and substantial improvements shall be according to section 54-502 of this article and the VA USBC, and anchored to prevent flotation, collapse or lateral movement of the structure.

The A zone on the FIRM accompanying the FIS shall be those areas for which no detailed flood profiles or elevations are provided, but the one-percent annual chance floodplain boundary has been approximated. When such base flood elevation data is utilized, the lowest floor shall be elevated at least one and one-half feet above the base flood level.
