Lighting

  • Maximum color temperature3,000 Kelvin

    All exterior lights shall be 3,000 Kelvin light color temperature or less.

  • Hours of illumination for commercial/industrial near residential

    Public/civic/recreational uses, commercial uses, and industrial uses that are adjacent to existing residential development or residential zoning districts shall extinguish all exterior lighting, except lighting necessary for security or emergency purposes, within one hour after closing.

  • Maximum illumination at lot line0.5 footcandles

    All lighting visible from outside, except for street lighting and pedestrian area lighting, must be designed and located so that the maximum illumination at any lot line abutting a residential district, dwelling, or any public right-of-way, does not exceed 0.5 footcandles.

  • Maximum illumination in commercial/industrial districts5 footcandles

    The maximum permitted average maintained illumination measured vertically and horizontally shall not exceed 5.0 footcandles in commercial and industrial districts.

  • Maximum illumination in residential districts2 footcandles

    The maximum permitted average maintained illumination measured vertically and horizontally shall not exceed 2.0 footcandles in residential and R-PRD districts.

  • Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 30 feet in industrial districts.

  • Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 20 feet in all other districts.

  • Full cutoff shielding required

    Each outdoor luminaire subject to these outdoor lighting requirements shall be dark sky compliant with a full cutoff luminaire.
