Signage

• Flashing signs prohibitedProhibitedNot allowed in the district at all, short of rezoning or a variance.

  No flashing signs shall be permitted in any district.

• Maximum detached sign heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first.15 ft

  one (1) sign, accessory or otherwise, may occupy required yards in a district where such sign is permitted by these regulations, if such sign is not more than fifty (50) square feet in area

• Roof signs prohibitedProhibitedNot allowed in the district at all, short of rezoning or a variance.

  No sign which is not an integral part of the building design shall be fastened to and supported by or on the roof of a building and no projecting sign shall extend over or above the roof line or parapet wall of a building.

• Sign maintenance required

  All signs shall be maintained in good condition and appearance.

• Sign placement restriction near residential districts

  signs may not be placed on side or rear walls facing, and within one hundred (100) feet of, a residential district.

• Sign projection over public right-of-way

  No signs shall project over public right-of-way without express permission of the board of supervisors except for permitted flat signs which may so project not more than eighteen (18) inches.

• Sign removal for violation

  The administrator shall remove or cause to be removed any sign or supporting structure erected or maintained in conflict with these regulations if the owner or lessee of either the site or the sign fails to correct the violation within thirty (30) days after receiving written notice of violation from the administrator.

• Signs confusing traffic signals prohibitedProhibitedNot allowed in the district at all, short of rezoning or a variance.

  No sign shall be so located and so illuminated as to provide a background of colored lights blending with traffic signal lights to the extent of confusing a motorist when viewed from normal approaching position of a vehicle at a distance of twenty-five (25) to three hundred (300) feet.

• Signs resembling danger lights prohibitedProhibitedNot allowed in the district at all, short of rezoning or a variance.

  No sign shall be constructed, erected, used, operated, or maintained which displays intermittent lights resembling, or seeming to resemble, the flashing lights customarily associated with danger or such as are customarily used by police, fire or ambulance vehicles, or for navigation purposes.
