Lighting

  • Full cutoff lighting

    Any lighting that is provided shall be full cutoff light fixtures directed downwards, so as to minimize glare onto adjoining properties, the night sky, or roads.

Other

  • Building required

    To ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public, a building is required.

  • Any outdoor fires shall be enclosed by a fire ring consisting of a durable, nonflammable material at least eight inches in height.

  • Preservation of native species

    The preservation of existing healthy regionally native species should be prioritized. Use of regionally native trees, shrubs and ground covers is strongly encouraged.

  • No temporary overnight accommodations

    No temporary overnight accommodations such as tents and/or camping units shall be allowed.

  • Perimeter fencing

    Perimeter fencing is desired, especially adjacent to roadways or adjacent parcels with dwellings. In the Agricultural (A-1) and Woodland-Conservation (W-C) Districts, all areas inaccessible to guests must be clearly marked, and no-trespassing signs shall be posted every 50 feet along the perimeter of the venue.

  • Permanent restroom facilities

    Permanent restroom facilities with approved water source and sewage disposal system are required. No porta-potties or temporary mobile restroom trailers shall be permitted except during construction.

  • Direct access to state-maintained road

    Event venues must have direct access to a state-maintained road or a fifty-foot right-of-way access to a state-maintained road. All entrances and exits onto state-maintained roads must be approved by VDOT.

  • The minimum setbacks from property lines and dwellings on adjacent properties shall follow the standards in Table 1.

  • Waste disposal

    A proper method of waste and trash disposal is required. The location of waste and trash containers shall be made available for guests, shall clearly be identified on-site and orderly maintained, and be constructed in a manner that is animalproof.

Parking

  • Parking space dimensions

    Individual parking spaces must be a minimum of nine feet in width and 20 feet in length. Internal lanes must be a minimum of 12 feet in width for one-way traffic and 24 feet for two-way traffic.

In the Agricultural (A-1) and Woodland-Conservation District (W-C) districts, the subject parcel or parcels shall be no less than 15 contiguous acres in area.
