Signage

  Awning or canopy signs: One square foot per linear foot of the awning or canopy, up to eight (8) square feet.

  Freestanding or monument signs shall be permitted only on lots with 100 feet or more street frontage.

• Minimum setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line. for freestanding signs5 ft

  Freestanding signs shall be located no closer than five (5) feet from the edge of any public right-of-way, service drive or entrance.

• Minimum spacing between freestanding or monument signs100 ft

  No freestanding or monument sign shall be erected within 100 feet of another freestanding sign.

• Maximum number of signs per business2 signs

  Two (2) signs per business; no two signs may be of the same sign type. Individual businesses on a single zoning lot with frontage on more than one public right-of-way may have one additional sign which meets all requirements of this section, not to exceed three.

• Maximum monument sign area24 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Monument signs: One square foot per five linear feet of lot frontage on which the sign is to be located, up to a maximum size of twenty-four (24) square feet.

• Maximum projecting sign area8 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Projecting sign: One half (1/2) square foot per linear foot of building frontage on which the sign is to be attached, up to eight (8) square feet.

• Maximum projecting sign projection from wall4 ft

  Projecting signs shall not project from the exterior wall of a building more than four feet.

• Minimum clearance of projecting signs from sidewalk grade8 ft

  Projecting signs shall be no less than eight (8) feet from the sidewalk grade.

• Permitted sign types for commercial/industrial adjacent to residential

  Types of signs permitted: Wall, freestanding, projecting, awning, canopy or marquee.

• Maximum area for signs facing residential districts16 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Any sign erected on a property adjacent to a residential zoning district may be externally illuminated as long as it is fully shielded and downward directed and is limited to sixteen (16) square feet in area.

• Maximum wall or marquee sign area per business30 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Wall or marquee signs: One half (1/2) square foot of sign per one linear foot of unit frontage with a maximum square footage not to exceed 30 square feet per individual business.

• Maximum wall sign projection from wall12 in

  All wall signs shall be installed flat against the wall of a building and shall not extend from the wall more than 12 inches.
