Floodplain

Accessory structures may be constructed below the base flood elevation provided that the structure is designed and constructed with flood resistant materials, adequately anchored, and equipped with flood openings that meet criteria: minimum of two openings on different sides, total net area at least 1 sq inch per sq ft, bottom no higher than 1 foot above adjacent grade.
- AH zone elevation
In Zone AH areas, new construction and substantial improvements of any residential or non-residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation.
- AO zone elevation
In Zone AO areas, new construction and substantial improvements of any residential or non-residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the depth number specified on the FIRM, measured from the highest adjacent grade. If no depth number is specified, the lowest floor shall be elevated at least two (2) feet above the highest adjacent grade.
- Drainage paths
Adequate drainage paths shall be provided around structures on slopes to guide floodwaters away from such structures.
Manufactured homes shall be elevated on a permanent foundation such that the lowest floor is elevated to or above the base flood elevation and securely anchored.
- Non-residential lowest floor or floodproofing
New construction and substantial improvement of any non-residential structure shall either have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation; or, together with attendant utility and sanitary facilities, be floodproofed to or above the base flood elevation.
- Recreational vehicle requirements
Recreational vehicles placed on sites within a special flood hazard area shall either be on the site for fewer than 180 consecutive days or be fully licensed and ready for highway use, on wheels or jacking system, attached to the site only by quick disconnect type utilities and security devices, and have no permanently attached additions.
