  • Accessory structures may be constructed below the base flood elevation provided that the structure is designed and constructed with flood resistant materials; adequately anchored to prevent flotation, collapse, or lateral movement; equipped with flood openings that meet the following criteria: a minimum of two (2) openings on different sides of each enclosed area; total net area of all openings at least one (1) square inch for each square foot of enclosed area; bottom of each opening no higher than one (1) foot above the adjacent grade; openings may be equipped with screens, louvers, valves, or other coverings or devices provided that they permit the automatic entry and exit of floodwaters.

  • AH zone lowest floor elevation

    In Zone AH areas, new construction and substantial improvements of any residential or non-residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation.

  • AO zone lowest floor elevation

    In Zone AO areas, new construction and substantial improvements of any residential or non-residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the depth number specified on the FIRM, measured from the highest adjacent grade. If no depth number is specified, the lowest floor shall be elevated at least two (2) feet above the highest adjacent grade.

  • Compliance with general and specific standards

    All development shall comply with the general standards of section 74-912 and the specific standards of section 74-913(a).

  • Adequate drainage paths

    Adequate drainage paths shall be provided around structures on slopes to guide floodwaters away from such structures.

  • Manufactured homes shall be elevated on a permanent foundation such that the lowest floor is elevated to or above the base flood elevation and securely anchored.

  • Non-residential lowest floor at or above BFE or floodproofed

    New construction and substantial improvement of any non-residential structure shall either have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation; or, together with attendant utility and sanitary facilities, be floodproofed to or above the base flood elevation.

  • Residential lowest floor at or above BFE

    New construction and substantial improvement of any residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation.
