General meaning
Minimum parking
The number of off-street spaces a development must provide before it may open.
Usually set per dwelling unit or per 1,000 sq ft of floor area. Because parking consumes land, a minimum can bind harder than the density cap: a requirement of two spaces per unit can make the permitted number of units physically impossible to fit. Most codes set these in a citywide chapter rather than per district.
