General provisions

Article II, Sec. 2-100219 standards

When used in this ordinance the following terms shall have a meaning as ascribed herein:

Article IX, Sec. 9-1001 to 9-101284 standards

Signs obstruct views... regulate the size, color, illumination, movement, materials, location, height and condition of all signs.

Article VII, Sec. 7-2001 to 7-201431 standards

A residential plot plan, in compliance with the following, shall be submitted for the construction or location of all new single-family detached dwellings or two-family dwellings on an existing or platted lot.

Article VIII, Landscaping and Screening2 standards

Miscellaneous use types are required to install a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) points of landscaping per five hundred (500) square feet of buffer zone.

Article VIII, Landscaping and Screening18 standards

The parking zone is a continuous perimeter buffer, ten (10) feet in width, surrounding the entire parking area... Parking zones shall install a minimum of sixty (60) points of landscaping per five hundred (500) square feet of total parking zone area.

The foundation zone is a continuous area six (6) feet in width around the entire perimeter of the building. Foundation zones shall install a minimum of thirty (30) points of landscaping per one hundred fifty (150) square feet of total foundation zone area.

Screening zones shall install a minimum of eight (8) points of landscaping per ten (10) linear feet of perimeter length. Plants must be installed no more than ten (10) feet from the base of service structures... plant height shall be a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of the total height of the structure or equipment being screened.

Article VIII, Sec. 8-10074 standards

An individual zone may be reduced by no more than fifty percent (50%) of the zone requirement due to landscaping credits, except that the zoning administrator may approve up to an additional ten percent (10%) reduction (not to exceed sixty percent (60%) in any individual zone)... The required points for a single-family residential lot may be reduced by no more than forty percent (40%) of the whole site total points due to landscaping credits, except that the zoning administrator may approve up to an additional ten percent (10%) reduction

Article VIII, Sec. 8-10092 standards

The maximum side slope shall be three (3) horizontal feet to one (1) vertical foot (3:1)... No person shall cut, destroy, move, or remove any living, disease-free tree of any species having a trunk with a diameter of eight (8) inches or larger

Article VIII, Sec. 8-1010 and 8-10114 standards

When landscaping is required, no certificate of occupancy shall be issued until the required landscaping is completed... a temporary certificate of occupancy may be issued only if the owner or developer provides a form of surety satisfactory to the county attorney in an amount equal to the costs of labor and materials plus ten percent (10%) contingency allowance... All required landscaping shall be installed within twelve (12) months following the issuance of a temporary certificate of occupancy... Surety in an amount equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the cost of materials and installation of landscaping, screening and buffering materials, including fences, shall be provided... This surety shall be released at the end of two (2) years

Article VIII, Sec. 8-10122 standards

All unhealthy, dying or dead plant materials shall be replaced within one (1) year. Tree topping and other forms of extreme crown reduction or unnatural shaping and pruning of trees required by this article shall be prohibited.

Article XI, Sec. 11-1000 through 11-100617 standards

The maximum spillover onto any adjacent residential property shall not exceed one-fourth (0.25) footcandles (horizontal).

Article XX, Sec. 8-2001

Open space and recreation shall be as set forth in the underlying zoning district. Developed open space shall be designed to provide active and passive recreational facilities... Undeveloped open space shall be designed to preserve important site amenities and environmentally sensitive lands.

Borrow Pit Regulations5 standards

The edge of an excavation area for borrow pits and other purposes shall be located at least such distance as to protect adjoining property from collapse, caving or sliding, but in no event shall such excavation areas be less than two hundred (200) feet from adjoining property lines or others.

Schedule B1 standards

Specific requirements shall be determined by the zoning administrator based on requirements for similar uses, location of the proposed use, expected demand and traffic generated by the proposed use, and appropriate traffic engineering and planning criteria and information.

Sec. 1-100330 standards

This ordinance shall apply to all properties within Isle of Wight County, Virginia, excluding the incorporated towns of Smithfield and Windsor.

Sec. 1-10161 standards

The owner of land seeking a rezoning may provide, by voluntarily proffering in writing, reasonable conditions as part of the application for rezoning...

Sec. 1-101718 standards

In addition to the specific standards contained in article V, supplementary use regulations, the other guidelines and criteria described in this ordinance, and other relevant consideration, the board may impose conditions or limitations on any approval, including the posting of performance guarantees.

Sec. 1-10173 standards

The board of supervisors after public notice and hearing and upon recommendation by the planning commission may authorize the issuance of conditional use permit...

Sec. 1-10183 standards

If, in any district established under this ordinance, a use is not specifically permitted and an application is made to the zoning administrator for such use, the zoning administrator shall refer the application to the planning commission as a special use permit.
