Design
- Site design standards
Development shall be designed to minimize adverse effects on ground water, reduce cut and fill, avoid unnecessary impervious cover, prevent flooding, provide adequate access, and mitigate adverse effects of shadow, noise, odor, glare, traffic, drainage, and utilities on neighboring properties.
Environmental

Land located in the 100-year floodplain as designated by the Surry County Floodplain (FP) District shall be preserved as undeveloped open space.

To the maximum extent practicable, development shall be located to preserve the natural features of the site, to avoid areas of environmental sensitivity, to preserve historic structures and to minimize negative impacts and alteration of natural features.
