• Building permit requires approved landscaping plan

  No building permit shall be issued by the city until the applicant therefor exhibits to the building inspector the approved plans required by this chapter.

• Expansion threshold requiring landscaping plan25 pct

  Any expansion of an existing principal building or structure by more than 25 percent of the existing floor area

• Minimum heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first. of screening fence or wall6 ft

  Where a fence or a wall is provided, it shall be a minimum of six feet in height

• Interior landscaping requirement for parking areas5 pct

  An area equal to five percent of the parking and patron vehicular circulation area, as measured by the outside boundaries thereof, shall be landscaped to include trees and shrubs.

• Minimum landscaped area width along street right-of-way in business and professional districts5 ft

  Landscaping shall consist of at least a five feet wide landscaped area, along the street right-of-way, in business and professional districts

• Minimum landscaped area width along street right-of-way in industrial districts10 ft

  and at least a 10 feet wide landscaped area, along the street right-of-way, in the industrial districts.

• Landscaping plan required for activities requiring building permit or parking expansion

  a landscaping plan shall be submitted for review and approval with respect to all land use and development activities, to be commenced after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. 'Land use and development activities,' as used herein, shall mean those activities that require a building permit therefor or the creation of new parking areas or the enlargement of existing parking areas by more than four additional parking spaces (cumulative over a four-year period).

• Occupancy permit requires completed landscaping

  The building inspector for the city shall not issue an occupancy permit for such development until the landscaping and/or screening required hereunder has been completed.

• Pervious areas must be protected from soil erosion

  All pervious areas of the site shall be permanently protected from soil erosion with grass, ground covers, low shrubs, or mulch material.

• Approval period for landscaping and screening plan1 year

  Approval of landscaping and screening plan under the provisions of this chapter is valid for a period of one year

• Landscaping plan required for residential subdivisions

  Notwithstanding the foregoing, however, a landscaping plan is required for the development of a residential subdivision.

• Screening plan required in business, professional, and industrial districts

  a screening plan shall be submitted for review and approval with respect to all land use and development activities within business, professional and industrial districts

• Minimum vegetative screening strip width in business and professional districts5 ft

  Where only vegetative screening is provided, such screening strip shall not be less than five feet wide in the business and professional districts

• Minimum vegetative screening strip width in industrial districts10 ft

  and 10 feet wide in the industrial districts.

• Minimum number of minor shade trees per parking spaces10 spaces

  At least one minor shade tree is required for each 10 parking spaces or portion thereof.

  All shrub plantings along entrances, exits, and intersections shall be kept below two and one-half feet so that visibility will not be impaired.

  no tree shall be planted closer than 35 feet of any street corner

  No street tree shall be planted closer than 10 feet to any fire hydrant.

• Street tree spacing requirement50 ft

  One street tree shall be required for every 50 feet of road frontage, or portion thereof, if the street abutment is 20 feet or more in length

• Street tree species restriction based on posted speed

  Streets with posted speeds of over 35 mph shall have minor trees only planted along the right-of-way.

• Minimum lateral distance from underground utilities5 ft

  or over or within five lateral feet of any underground water line, sewer line, transmission line, or other utility.

• Minimum lateral distance from overhead utility wires10 ft

  No trees other than those species listed as 30 feet or less in height at maturity may be planted under or within 10 lateral feet to any overhead utility wire

• Wheel stops or curbing required to protect landscaping

  Wheel stops, curbing, or other barriers shall be provided to prevent damage to landscaping by vehicles.
