Fencing & walls

  Any retaining wall having a height of at least four feet must have a minimum four-foot-high fence, measured from the top of the wall, installed on the upper side of the wall.

• Landscaping required for retaining walls

  If the elevation at the top of a retaining wall, including a terraced retaining wall, is more than six feet higher than a property line within 20 feet, or more than ten feet higher than a property line within 50 feet, the base of the retaining wall must be supplemented with landscaping

  Any retaining wall located within the front or street side yard setbacks for the principal use in the zoning district in which it is located must not be taller than six feet.

  A retaining wall facing a street or adjacent parcel, where not subject to the provisions of subsection B of this section, must be screened in accordance with Sec. 24-5406.B

  A landowner or tenant in need of heightened security may submit to the Planning Director and Chief of Police a security plan proposing a fence or wall taller than what is permitted

  Fences and walls must not obstruct vision at any height between 30 inches and eight feet above grade in the sight distance triangles
