  • Extension for reconstruction180 days

    A one time extension of up to 180 additional days may be granted by the administrator if substantial reconstruction of the destroyed dwelling has occurred

  • Maximum placement period12 months

    The period for temporary placement of such structures shall be no more than 12 months, unless an extension is specifically authorized by the board of supervisors for an additional period of time to be set by the board.

  • Maximum units per lot1 unit

    Only one temporary emergency housing unit shall be permitted on any lot of record.

  • Removal after certificate of occupancy30 days

    The temporary emergency housing must be removed within 30 days after a final certificate of occupancy has been issued for the reconstructed dwelling.

Temporary emergency housing may be placed on property when a disaster has been declared by the board of supervisors, the governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, or the President of the United States in accordance with applicable state and federal law.
