• Maximum number of beehives per property4 count

  Up to four (4) hives may be kept per property.

• Maximum coop and fenced enclosure size300 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Hen chickens must be provided, and always remain within, a fully enclosed coop and fenced enclosure, that is no larger than 300 square feet.

  The coop and fenced enclosure must be at least 30 feet from any neighboring dwellings.

• Crops must be in rear yardYardThe open space left between a building and its lot line — the space a setback creates. unless in containers 10 gallons or smaller

  Crops, vegetables, and fruits must be planted in the rear yard unless they are in containers ten (10) gallons or smaller.

• Apiculture equipment must be indoors when not in use

  All apiculture equipment not used with an active bee colony must be indoors.

• Feed must be secured in metal containers

  All feed must be secured in metal containers to prevent vermin access.

• Flight path barrier required if hive within 10 feet of lot line

  If the landing platform of a hive faces and is within ten (10) feet of any lot line, there shall be a flight path barrier, consisting of a fence, building or plantings not less than six (6) feet in height, located in front of the hive.

• Maximum number of hen chickens4 count

  A maximum of four (4) hen chickens are permitted on a property.

• Permitted use if standards met

  Urban Agriculture in compliance with the following standards is a permitted use in districts established in Article 3, Section C. Urban Agriculture that does not meet these standards requires a Special Use Permit.
