Floodplain

  • Floodproofing for nonresidential structures

    Nonresidential buildings may be floodproofed in lieu of elevation, provided all areas below BFE plus one foot are watertight and certified by a professional engineer.

  • Minimum lowest floor elevation1 ft

    New construction or additions of any residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated no lower than one foot above the base flood elevation.

  • In the floodway district, no development shall be permitted except where the effect of such development on flood heights is fully offset by compensatory improvements.

    All uses, activities and development occurring within any floodplain district shall be undertaken only upon the issuance of a zoning permit.
