Signage

• Banner allowed

  One banner or A-frame or T-frame shall be permitted per business in addition to the maximum number of signs permitted.

• Freestanding sign minimum setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line.10 ft

  The minimum setback for freestanding signs shall be the greater of: Ten feet from the edge of the pavement; or One foot from the street right-of-way line.

• Maximum aggregate sign area200 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Two hundred square feet maximum aggregate.

• Maximum sign area per sign100 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  One hundred square feet maximum per sign.

• Maximum sign heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first.20 ft

  No sign shall exceed 20 feet in height measured from the base of the sign or the grade of the nearest street, whichever is higher.

• Maximum signs per site3 count

  Three signs maximum per site.

• Portable A-frame/T-frame sign allowed

  One portable A-frame or T-frame sign shall be permitted per business in addition to the maximum number of signs permitted.

• Sign illumination requirement

  In the C-1, C-2, and M districts all signs shall be internally lighted or if externally lighted shielded to prevent blinding of approaching drivers.

• Sign shall not extend into right-of-way

  The sign shall not extend into the right-of-way.

• Signs facing residential uses must be internally illuminated

  Any sign installed within 25 feet of an existing residential use shall be internally illuminated.

• Streamers/festoons permitted

  Streamers/festoons, as provided for in section 86-644, shall be permitted in all commercial and industrial zones.
