Article I. - Fire Department#

Sec. 1. - Composition.#

There shall be a fire department composed of a chief and such other officers, firemen and employees as the city manager may deem necessary for the proper operation of the said department.

Sec. 2. - Supervision and control.#

The chief of the said fire department shall have immediate direction and control of the said force, subject to the supervision of the city manager.

Sec. 3. - Qualifications, duties and powers of members; residence requirements for firemen.#

The qualifications of the said chief, other officers, firefighters, and employees shall be such as the council may prescribe, and they shall perform such duties as the city manager may direct, and they shall have such authority as is provided by the general laws of the State of Virginia.
