General provisions

18.3.2

The area bounded by the town boundary prior to January 1, 1994, comprises a historic district. This historic overlay district is designated the 'Old Town Historic District' or, in abbreviated form, 'Old Town.'

Article 3, Section 3.55 standards

Article 4, Section 2 (AE and AH Zones)4 standards

Until a regulatory floodway is designated, no new construction, substantial improvements, or other development (including fill) shall be permitted within the areas of special flood hazard, designated as Zones A1-30, AE, or AH on the FIRM, unless it is demonstrated that the cumulative effect ... will not increase the water surface elevation of the base flood more than one foot at any point within the Town of Scottsville.

Article 4, Section 3 (A Zone)2 standards

The A zone on the FIRM accompanying the FIS shall be those areas for which no detailed flood profiles or elevations are provided, but the one percent annual chance floodplain boundary has been approximated. For these areas, the following provisions shall apply [44 CFR 60.3(b)].

Sec. 12.131 standards

Main structures shall be constructed and separated in accordance with Table 401 Fire Resistance Ratings of Structure Elements of the BOCA Basic Building Code, 1984 edition.

Sec. 12.4.1, 12.4.2, 12.6, 12.10.1, 12.10.2, 12.10.3, 12.116 standards

Maximum total floor area permissible for individual lots shall not exceed 0.70 times the land area of the lot. Maximum land coverage by buildings of an individual lot shall not exceed 0.50 times the land area of the lot. Structures may be erected to a height not to exceed 65 feet; ... No portion of any structure, excluding signs, shall be erected closer than 50 feet to any public street right-of-way. ... No portion of any structure, excluding signs, shall be located closer than 50 feet to any rural areas or residential district ... All utility lines shall be placed underground where practical.

Any governmental or proprietary function conducted by any government agency or publicly owned corporation... Yard, area, width and height regulations shall conform with the standards of the predominant adjoining district.

Sec. 16.01 standards

Regulations, requirements and limitations of overlay districts shall be in addition to, or supersede, as the case may be, those of the underlying district.

Sec. 17-4.210 standards

The following provisions shall apply to all permits: New construction and substantial improvements shall be built according to this ordinance and the VA USBC, and anchored to prevent flotation, collapse, or lateral movement of the structure.

Sec. 17.3.2 - Overlay concept1 standards

In this area no emergency service, medical service, or governmental records storage shall be allowed except by special exception using the variance process.

Sec. 17.4.3.D10 standards

Accessory structures in the SFHA shall comply with the elevation requirements and other requirements of article IV, section [17.]4.3.B or, if not elevated or dry floodproofed, shall: ... Be limited to no more than 600 square feet in total floor area.

Sec. 17.4.3.E.12 standards

In zones A, AE, AH, and AO, all manufactured homes placed, or substantially improved, on individual lots or parcels, must meet all the requirements for new construction, including the elevation and anchoring requirements

Sec. 17.4.3.E.22 standards

All recreational vehicles placed on sites must either: a. Be on the site for fewer than 180 consecutive days, be fully licensed and ready for highway use... or b. Meet all the requirements for manufactured homes

Sec. 17.4.44 standards

All subdivision proposals shall be consistent with the need to minimize flood damage. All subdivision proposals shall have public utilities and facilities such as sewer, gas, electrical and water systems located and constructed to minimize flood damage.

Any structure or use of a structure or premises must be brought into conformity with these provisions when it is changed, repaired, or improved unless one of the following exceptions is established
