General meaning
Group home
A dwelling shared by unrelated residents receiving supervision or care.
Ordinances routinely split this into numbered tiers — "group home 1", "group home 2" — by resident count, staffing or the population served, and each tier can carry a different permission. Federal fair-housing law also constrains how far a locality may restrict homes for people with disabilities. Read the local definitions section for the operative meaning.
