Sec. 83-432(e)(4)c1 standards

Restaurants with drive-through service shall comply with the following standards: 1. Drive-through facilities shall be located at least 100 feet from any residential zoning district.

Sec. 83-432(e)(5)a5 standards

Outdoor arenas, amphitheaters, stadiums: located at least 500 feet from existing child day care centers and residential zoning districts; on site at least five acres; at least 200 feet of frontage on arterial street; access points minimize traffic to local streets; safety fences up to 8 feet.

Sec. 83-432(e)(6)a2 standards

Auction facilities: operate only between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.; meet VDOT entrance requirements; parking may be paved or graveled.

Banks, financial institutions, drugstores with drive-through: drive-through facilities located at least 100 feet from any residential zoning district; designed with sufficient stacking spaces per section 83-455; avoid obstructions to pedestrian movement.

Sec. 83-432(e)(6)c2 standards

Convenience store combined with gas station shall comply with standards for each use. A convenience store within the 711 Village Special Area Plan is allowed only within a shopping center, and only within a building containing at least three uses other than a convenience store.

Sec. 83-432(e)(6)f3 standards

Farmers' market: items for sale may not be displayed or stored within customer pathways; shall have established operating rules; shall have a manager authorized to direct operations during all hours.

Sec. 83-432(e)(6)g5 standards

Flea market: items not displayed in pathways; if outdoors, all items and fixtures returned to enclosed structure at end of day; established operating rules; manager; plan of ingress and egress.

Sec. 83-432(e)(6)h8 standards

Outdoor display and storage of sheds for sale: sheds arranged in organized manner; maintain clearance area in front of primary building entrances at least 10 ft deep; obstruction-free area at least 5 ft wide; areas generally level; total area of permanent structures plus 25% of outdoor display/sales areas used for parking calculation; sheds along frontage shall face roadway, no signage on facades, perimeter landscaping strip or landscaped perimeter at least 2 ft wide.

Other retail sales establishment within Courthouse Square Center District: maximum building footprint 5,000 sq ft, total building size 10,000 sq ft; free-standing signs no larger than 8 sq ft, building mounted signs no larger than 13 sq ft; items not displayed in pedestrian walkways.

Sec. 83-432(e)(7)13 standards

Self-service storage facilities: lot area at least one acre; multiple buildings spaced at least 10 ft apart; only commercial uses are rental of storage bays, pickup/deposit of goods, incidental sales of moving supplies; no commercial/industrial activity in bays; no more than one security/caretaker quarters; all property stored within enclosed buildings; hours of public access restricted to 6 a.m.-10 p.m. if abutting residential; open storage of RVs/boats allowed in designated area to rear, not in required yards; aisleways min 21 ft one-way, 30 ft two-way; all accessways paved; buildings oriented perpendicular to streets, no metal on facades facing public street or single-family detached dwelling.

Sec. 83-432(e)(8)a6 standards

Automotive painting/body shop; automotive repair: if capacity to service or store more than 5 vehicles, located at least 100 ft from residential district, school, or child day care center; designed for proper vehicle stacking; no operation impeding traffic; vehicles not parked as source of parts; repair in enclosed building; vehicles awaiting removal not stored more than 30 days.

Sec. 83-432(e)(8)b4 standards

Automotive wrecker service: located at least 250 ft from residential district or existing residential use, school, or child day care center; number of vehicles stored limited to 15; vehicles not stored more than 90 days; outdoor storage allowed per section 83-438(p).

Car wash or auto detailing: designed with sufficient stacking spaces per section 83-455; if combined with gas station, comply with both uses.

Sec. 83-432(e)(8)d9 standards

Gas station: if on corner lot, lot area at least 30,000 sq ft and frontage at least 150 ft on each street side; otherwise lot area at least 15,000 sq ft and lot width at least 150 ft; designed for safe vehicle stacking; gasoline pump canopies max clearance height 15 ft; if combined with convenience store or car wash, comply with both; if in 711 Village, additional standards.

Sec. 83-432(e)(8)e1 standards

Parking lots and parking structures as principal use: parking shall be principal use; retail sales and service and office establishments may be on ground floor; no other business of any kind.

Sec. 83-432(e)(8)f2 standards

Tire sales and mounting: mounting services shall occur within an enclosed building; all automobile parts, dismantled vehicles, and similar materials stored within enclosed building or outdoor storage area per section 83-438(p).
