Article III

AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT 'A'

Article III, Sec. 106-51 to 106-6310 standards

The minimum lot area in the district shall be five acres, unless the cluster option is used, as set forth in subsection (b).

Article IV

RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT 'R'

Article IV, Sec. 106-77 to 106-8812 standards

Residential district 'R' permits single-family and two-family dwellings, schools, churches. Min lot area 10,000 sq ft, frontage 100 ft, setbacks 50/15/35 ft, height 35 ft.

Article IX, Sec. 106-201 through 106-2055 standards

For a nonconforming use to continue a nonconforming status, the use must have been actually existing prior to the date of this ordinance and not merely contemplative.

BARRIER ISLAND DISTRICT 'BI'

Article VIII, Sec. 106-176 through 106-1846 standards

Sign regulations: setback 15 ft, height 20 ft, signs permitted by right and by special use permit.

Article VIII, Sec. 106-176 to 106-18410 standards

Signs shall be located 15 feet or more from any highway or street right-of-way.

Article VIII, Sec. 106-178(n) and Sec. 106-179(2)1 standards

In any district, except residential district 'R' and industrial district 'I,' the following size business signs shall be permitted by right... Any person, firm, or corporation who was operating a business in residential district 'R' prior to the effective date of this chapter who may desire to erect any additional signs shall apply for a special use permit.

Signs in the industrial district 'I' that meet the criteria set out in section 106-135 of this chapter.

A board of zoning appeals ('BZA') consisting of five members shall be appointed by the Circuit Court of Accomack County.

Article XIX

AIRPORT OVERLAY DISTRICT

Article XIX, Sec. 106-451—106-4566 standards

No structure shall be erected, altered, or maintained, and no vegetation shall be allowed to grow to a height so as to penetrate any referenced surface, known as the floor, of any zone provided for in section 106-453.

Article XV

FLOOD HAZARD OVERLAY DISTRICT

Article XV, Sec. 106-36417 standards

The various special flood hazard districts shall include the SFHAs subject to a one-percent or greater chance of being flooded in any given year.

Article XVI

CHESAPEAKE/ATLANTIC PRESERVATION OVERLAY DISTRICT

Article XVI, Sec. 106-376 et seq.26 standards

The Chesapeake/Atlantic Preservation Area overlay district is hereby adopted... The CAPA overlay district shall be in addition to, and shall overlay, all other zoning districts where they are applied.

Article XX

RURAL RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT 'RR'

The minimum lot area in the district shall be three acres, unless the cluster option is used, as set forth in subsection 106-505(d).
