From the ordinance
Private open areas may be included in the required open area but not in the required common usable open area. A private open area, when provided, shall have dimensions not less than ten (10) feet in any horizontal direction if at ground level, or be at least five (5) feet by eight (8) feet in horizontal dimension if located on a balcony or deck above ground level.
