A certificate of appropriateness shall be required from the architectural review board for all work undertaken in the historic district, except for ordinary maintenance.
- Demolition review
No historic landmark, building or structure within any district shall be razed, demolished, or moved until approved and a certificate of appropriateness is issued, or a bona fide offer to sell has been filed with the town council.

A certificate of appropriateness shall be required from the architectural review board for all work undertaken in the historic district, except for ordinary maintenance. No building or structure, including signs, shall be erected, reconstructed, altered or restored within any such district unless the architectural review board finds that the work is architecturally compatible with the historic building, structure, or district and issues a certificate of appropriateness.
