Signage

• Maximum area of freestanding signs40 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Maximum sum total area of freestanding signs along frontage street: One square foot for every one foot of front street frontage of the lots on which located not to exceed 40 square feet.

  Maximum height: Eight feet above ground where located except as noted below.

• Prohibition of pole and pylon signs on certain streets

  Pole and pylon signs are prohibited on properties that have frontage along Main Street, Hirst Road and State Route 287.

• Maximum projection of projecting signs48 in

  Projecting signs shall not project from the exterior wall of a building more than 48 inches.

• Minimum clearance for projecting signs7 ft

  Projecting signs shall have a minimum clearance of seven feet from grade beneath the sign to the projecting sign.

• Maximum area of side or rear wall signs as percentage of front wall50 pct

  In the C-1, IB, and MC districts side wall or rear wall signage shall not exceed 50 percent of the maximum square footage of allowable sign as calculated pursuant to Paragraph (3) of this subsection.

  In the C-1, IB, MC districts the total square footage of wall signs on any front wall shall not exceed one square foot of area for every one foot of building frontage up to a maximum of 60 square feet.
