  • Best management practices required

    All development shall incorporate best management practices to control nonpoint source pollution and to protect water quality.

  • Buildable area outside RPA required

    No lot shall be created within an RPA unless it contains sufficient buildable area outside the RPA to accommodate the principal structure and required yards, setbacks, and other applicable requirements of the underlying zoning district.

  • Erosion and sediment control

    All land-disturbing activities shall comply with the Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance and the Design and Construction Standards Manual.

  • Prohibited activities include land-disturbing activities, clearing vegetation, construction of structures (except water-dependent), storage of materials, application of fertilizers/pesticides/herbicides.

  • RPA buffer width100 ft

    The RPA buffer shall have a minimum width of 100 feet, measured horizontally from the edge of the water body with perennial flow or the edge of the wetland.

  • Stormwater management

    All land-disturbing activities shall comply with the Stormwater Management Ordinance and the Design and Construction Standards Manual.

The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Overlay District shall include all lands within the County that are within the Chesapeake Bay watershed, designated as RPAs or RMAs. RPA buffer shall have a minimum width of 100 feet.
