The purpose of the Mining and Mineral Extraction (M) District is to accommodate surface and subsurface extraction of building or landscaping materials (e.g., stone, gravel, sand, topsoil), mineral solids (e.g., coal, ores, gems), mineral liquids (e.g., crude petroleum), or gases (e.g., natural gas) from the earth.
