Floodplain
- Breakaway walls
Space below the lowest floor shall be free of obstruction or constructed with breakaway walls with design safe loading resistance of not less than 10 and no more than 20 pounds per square foot.
- Elevation on pilings
All new construction and substantial improvements in zones V and VE shall be elevated on pilings or columns so that the bottom of the lowest horizontal structural member is elevated to or above the base flood level plus 18 inches if parallel to wave approach, or at least two feet above base flood level if perpendicular.
