Design

  • Building permit required

    All PV and MWT systems shall require a building permit.

  • Exterior electrical lines buried

    For ground-mounted systems, all exterior electrical lines must be buried.

  • Framing and wiring painted to match

    For building-mounted systems, all framing, piping, control devices and wiring must be painted to match the color of the roof or the element upon which it is installed.

  • No signs or graphic content may be displayed on the system except the manufacturer's badge, safety information and equipment specification information.

  • Maximum distance from roof for angled roof PV6 inches

    On an angled roof, the system must be installed at the same angle as the roof on which it is installed with a maximum distance between the roof and highest edge or surface of the system, measured perpendicular to the roof, of 6 inches.

  • Maximum extension of building-mounted MWT above roof peak6 ft

    Building-mounted MWT systems may extend up to 6 feet above the peak of the roof.

  • Ground-mounted MWT location

    Ground-mounted MWT shall be located only in a rear yard and shall have a setback from the boundaries of the lot equal to the height fall zone of the windmill.

  • Ground-mounted systems and ground-mounted equipment associated with either a building or ground-mounted PV or MWT system are subject to the accessory use or structure setback requirements in the zoning district in which the system is to be provided.

  • The maximum height of a ground-mounted MWT shall be 35 feet.

  • Maximum MWT per lot1 turbine

    No more than 1 MWT will be permitted on a lot.

  • The lowest point of the rotating blades shall be a minimum of 20 feet above the ground.

    On nonresidential buildings, all such rooftop equipment visible from a public street shall be screened from view by a parapet wall not greater than five feet in height.
