- Sign Area Calculation
The area within a continuous perimeter enclosing the limits of a sign. The sign area includes any frame or other material or color that forms an integral part of the display or is used to differentiate the sign from the sign background against which it is placed. Sign area excludes the base, structural supports, or uprights on which the sign is placed. See Section 8.11. When a sign has 2 sign faces, only 1 sign face counts as the sign area. If the faces of a 2-sided sign are different sizes, the larger face counts as the sign area.
