Floodplain

  • Floodway delineation required

    Applicant must delineate a floodway area ensuring no increase in 100-year flood elevation more than one foot.

    All development must comply with floodproofing provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.

  • Manufactured homes shall be elevated on a permanent foundation to or above the base flood elevation and securely anchored.

From the ordinance

Within the approximated floodplain district, the applicant shall also delineate a floodway area based on the requirement that all existing and future development not increase the one-hundred-year flood elevation more than one foot at any point. The engineering principle, equal reduction of conveyance, shall be used.
