• Anchoring to prevent flotation

  All new construction and substantial improvements shall be anchored to prevent flotation, collapse or lateral movement of the structure resulting from hydrodynamic and hydrostatic loads, including the effects of buoyancy. (§ 152.26(A))

• Flood-resistant materials

  All new construction and substantial improvements shall be constructed with materials and utility equipment resistant to flood damage. (§ 152.26(C)(1))

• Flood openings for enclosures

  Enclosed areas below regulatory flood protection elevation shall have a minimum of two openings on different sides, total net area at least one square inch per square foot of enclosed area, bottom no higher than one foot above grade. (§ 152.27(C)(3))

• Nonresidential lowest floor elevation1 ft

  New construction or substantial improvement of any nonresidential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated no lower than one foot above the base flood elevation, or floodproofed. (§ 152.27(B))

• Residential lowest floor elevation1 ft

  New construction or substantial improvement of any residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated no lower than one foot above the base flood elevation. (§ 152.27(A))

• Development permit required

  All uses, activities and development occurring within any floodplain district shall be undertaken only upon the issuance of a zoning permit. (§ 152.25(A))

• Utility systems flood protection

  New and replacement water supply systems shall be designed to minimize or eliminate infiltration of floodwaters; sanitary sewage systems similarly; on-site waste disposal systems located to avoid impairment. (§ 152.26(D))
