Noise

• Construction exemption during daytime300 ft

  Any person with permits who during daytime operates construction equipment in any residential district within 100 yards of a lawfully occupied dwelling shall not be subject to the levels.

• Exemptions from noise prohibitions

  Exemptions include: necessary for protection of property/health/safety, road maintenance, emergency vehicles, permitted parades/fireworks, school activities, city park activities, alarms, military activities, political gatherings.

• Heating and cooling systems exempt

  Heating and cooling systems, including air conditioners and heat pumps, shall not be subject to the maximum levels.

• Maximum permissible sound levels by zoning districtZoning districtA mapped area with one set of rules, identified by a code like R-1 or B-2.

• Measurement distance for vehicle noise50 ft

  Noise measured at the property line of the source property or at any point within any other property affected by the noise.

• Most restrictive classification applies

  When a noise source can be identified and measured in more than one zoning district, the limits of the most restrictive classification shall apply.

  To use, operate or play any radio, phonograph, television, etc. in such a manner that it is plainly audible at nighttime inside another dwelling or at a distance of 50 feet or more from the device.

  To create any plainly audible sound in residential areas between 10pm and 7am in connection with lawn care, leaf removal, gardening, tree maintenance or removal and other landscaping, lawn or timbering activities.
