Signage

  The following signs are prohibited within the city: (1) Signs that are not expressly permitted by this article or for which a sign permit has not been obtained when required; (2) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in violation of any provision of this article; (3) Signs that are not maintained in a reasonably good state of repair; (4) Signs that constitute a safety hazard; (5) Signs that obstruct the view of motorists or pedestrians; (6) Signs that interfere with the effectiveness of traffic control devices; (7) Signs that imitate or resemble official traffic control devices or emergency vehicle markings; (8) Signs that contain any word, phrase, symbol, or character that imitates or resembles an official traffic control device or emergency vehicle marking; (9) Signs that are located within a public right-of-way, except as otherwise permitted by this article; (10) Signs that are attached to any public utility pole, streetlight pole, traffic signal pole, or other public structure, except as otherwise permitted by this article; (11) Signs that are attached to any tree, rock, or other natural feature; (12) Signs that are painted, drawn, or otherwise affixed directly to any building or structure without a permit, except as otherwise permitted by this article; (13) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that obstructs any window, door, fire escape, stairway, or other means of egress; (14) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that obstructs any ventilation opening or other building service opening; (15) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any fire hydrant, fire alarm box, or other emergency equipment; (16) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any utility meter, utility box, or other utility equipment; (17) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any sidewalk, curb, gutter, or other pedestrian facility; (18) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any street, alley, or other vehicular facility; (19) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any driveway, parking lot, or other vehicular access area; (20) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any loading dock, loading area, or other loading facility; (21) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any trash enclosure, dumpster, or other waste disposal area; (22) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any transformer, generator, or other electrical equipment; (23) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any air conditioning unit, heating unit, or other mechanical equipment; (24) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any roof, gutter, or other building component; (25) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any foundation, footing, or other structural component; (26) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any window, door, or other building opening; (27) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any wall, floor, or ceiling; (28) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any stairway, ramp, or other means of access; (29) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any elevator, escalator, or other means of vertical transportation; (30) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any conveyor, chute, or other means of material handling; (31) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any pipe, duct, or other means of utility distribution; (32) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any wire, cable, or other means of electrical transmission; (33) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any antenna, tower, or other means of telecommunications; (34) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any satellite dish, receiver, or other means of signal reception; (35) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any solar panel, wind turbine, or other means of renewable energy generation; (36) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any water meter, water valve, or other means of water distribution; (37) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any sewer line, sewer cleanout, or other means of sewage disposal; (38) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any gas line, gas meter, or other means of gas distribution; (39) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any oil line, oil tank, or other means of oil storage; (40) Signs that are erected, constructed, placed, altered, or relocated in a manner that interferes with the use of any chemical line, chemical tank, or other means of chemical storage;
