  • Architectural style

    Development shall be Southern Colonial, French Colonial, or Coastal Colonial, with thematically appropriate architectural elements and materials such as brick and stone masonry, stucco, wood shingle, wood clapboard, board and batten, or alternative materials that achieve the same style.

  • Enhanced buffer along Battlefield Boulevard South25 pct

    All new construction of a principal structure shall install an enhanced landscape buffer consisting of twenty-five (25) percent more plant material than required along the property line abutting Battlefield Boulevard South, as determined by the city's landscape coordinator.

  • Façade color restriction20 pct

    Façade color shall be low reflectance, subtle, neutral or earth tone colors. Brighter, trademark colors shall only be used as an accent color on no more than twenty (20) percent of the façade of the building.

    All plant materials shall be native vegetation appropriate to the Southern Colonial theme, as set forth in the adopted Great Bridge Village Design Guidelines.

  • Pedestrian feature in street buffer

    Street buffer yards shall include a pedestrian feature to provide pedestrian connectivity throughout the corridor.

  • Use of prefabricated corrugated metal panels, smooth-faced concrete block; and smooth-faced tilt-up concrete panels on façades of primary buildings facing Battlefield Boulevard South is prohibited, and may only be permitted on side and rear façades if screened from Battlefield Boulevard South.

  • Rooftop mechanical screening

    Rooftop mechanical units, flues, and vents shall be organized and screened.
