Signage

• Minimum interval between changeable message changes12 sec

  The message shall not be changed more than once every 12 seconds

• Maximum heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first. for construction site signs6 ft

• Maximum area for construction site signs16 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Such signs shall not exceed an area of 16 square feet and a height of six feet.

• Minimum distance of construction sign from property lines20 ft

  Each sign shall be at least 20 feet from contiguous property lines of adjacent landowners

• Minimum distance of construction sign from right-of-way5 ft

  and at least five feet from any right-of-way.

• Signs in Entrance Corridor require certificate of appropriateness

  For signs within the Town's Entrance Corridor, such permit shall conform to the requirements of such district and require certificate of appropriateness issued by the Planning Commission.

• Signs in Old and Historic DistrictHistoric districtAn area where exterior changes need design review to protect its character. require certificate of appropriateness

  Signs within the Town's Old and Historic District shall conform to the requirements of such district and require a certificate of appropriateness issued by the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB).

• Maximum sign illumination during daytime10,000 nits

  Illumination shall be no greater than 10,000 nits or footcandles from sunrise to sunset

• Maximum sign illumination at night700 nits

  Temporary off-premise signage is not to exceed 32 square feet.

• Sign permit required

  No sign shall be erected, installed, altered, modified, refaced, rehung, or replaced without obtaining a permit pursuant to this article

• Maximum duration of temporary sign permit per quarter30 days

  Temporary sign permits shall be issued for no more than 30 days per quarter.
