Lighting

  • Full cutoff luminaire required

    Each outdoor luminaire subject to these outdoor lighting requirements shall be a full cutoff luminaire

  • Hours of illumination for institutional, commercial, industrial adjacent to residential

    Institutional uses, commercial uses, and industrial uses that are adjacent to existing residential development shall extinguish all exterior lighting, except lighting necessary for security or emergency purposes, within one hour after closing and shall not turn on such lights until within one hour of opening.

  • Maximum color temperature3,000 K

    All exterior lights shall be 3,000 Kelvin light color temperature or less.

  • Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 30 feet in height in industrial districts

  • Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 20 feet in height in all other districts.

  • Maximum spillover at residential properties0.1 fc

    Spillover light shall not exceed 0.1 foot candles at adjoining residential properties.

  • The use of mercury vapor lights shall be prohibited in any exterior lighting applications, except for under-canopy lighting for gasoline pump islands, bank, or other drive-through or drive-in facilities.

    There shall be no moving, blinking, flashing, or wrap around bands of lighting on the exterior or interior of a building or seen from a public right-of-way.

  • Window lighting is prohibited in either the interior or exterior of windows.

Spillover light shall not exceed 0.5 foot candles at adjoining streets, commercial use, and mixed use and shall not exceed 0.1 foot candles at adjoining residential properties. All exterior lights shall be 3,000 Kelvin light color temperature or less. Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 30 feet in height in industrial districts and 20 feet in height in all other districts.
