Signage

• A-frame durable construction

  Any A-frame or easel sign shall be of durable construction, and when displayed shall be anchored in a manner approved by the zoning administrator.

• A-frame distance from entry door3 ft

  Any A-frame or easel sign shall be located within three feet of the entry door.

• A-frame no interference

  No A-frame or easel sign shall interfere with pedestrian or vehicular circulation.

• A-frame sidewalk clearance5 ft

  Any A-frame or easel sign shall leave a sidewalk clearance of at least five feet.

• Changeable copy maximum percentage80 pct

  Any changeable copy sign shall abut or connect with a static sign face, and the changeable copy portion of the sign shall not exceed 80 percent of the overall sign of which it is a part.

• Minimum distance from curb1 ft

  No sign shall extend closer than one foot to the curb line.

• Electronic readerboard integrated with static sign

  An electronic readerboard shall be integrated with a static sign face.

• Electronic readerboard maximum count per lot1 count

  Only one electronic readerboard shall be permitted on a lot.

• Electronic readerboard maximum percentage of sign area40 pct

  The electronic readerboard portion of a sign shall not exceed 40 percent of the total sign area of the sign of which it is an integral part

• Electronic readerboard no flashing

  An electronic readerboard shall not use flashing or blinking characters or streaming video.

• Electronic readerboard no glare

  No electronic readerboard shall create glare, the effect of which constitutes a traffic hazard or is otherwise detrimental to the public health, safety, or welfare.

• Electronic readerboard on-premises only

  An electronic readerboard sign shall be permitted only as an on-premises sign

• Illuminated sign electrical standards

  Any sign containing electrical components shall conform to current UL, ETL, CSA, or ULC standards and display a label from one of these recognized testing labs.

• Illuminated sign ground lighting screening

  If ground lighting is used to illuminate a sign, and the point source of the light is not equipped with shielding to prevent its visibility from any adjacent street or lot, such ground lighting shall be fully screened from view by landscaping material.

• Illuminated sign information on application

  Information on any illumination proposed as part of a sign must be provided by the applicant on the zoning permit application.

• Illuminated sign light shielding

  When any sign is illuminated, such lights shall be enclosed in the sign, or if external, such external light source shall be located, shielded, or directed so as to concentrate the illumination upon the area of the sign face and so that the point source of the light is not visible from any adjacent street or lot.

• Illuminated sign no glare

  no light from any illuminated sign shall cause direct glare into or upon any adjoining property or adjoining right-of-way

  No sign shall be located or hung over the right-of-way of any street, sidewalk, driveway, walkway, or access way, except that, in the Downtown Business District (BD), a sign attached to a wall of a building may project 36 inches from the wall and into such right-of-way
