Signage

• Maximum off-premises sign area378 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  The maximum size of any off-premises sign on a lot shall be 378 square feet plus 5% for embellishments.

• Maximum off-premises sign heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first.40 ft

  Sign height for off-premises signs shall not exceed 40 feet above average grade.

• Off-premises sign residential setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line.300 ft

  No off-premises sign shall be located within 300 feet of any residential zoning district, public square, park, school, library, or religious assembly property.

• Off-premises sign road setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line.40 ft

  Any off-premises sign must have a minimum sign setback of 40 feet from the center line of any public right-of-way, or 15 feet from the front property line, whichever is greater.

• Off-premises sign side/rear setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line.15 ft

  Any off-premises sign shall have a minimum side and/or rear setback of 15 feet.

• Off-premises sign spacing500 ft

  No off-premises sign shall be located within a 500-foot radius of an existing off-premises sign or an off-premises sign for which a valid permit has been obtained but which has not yet been erected.
