Signage

• Bonus tenant panels for shopping centers >50,000 sq ftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.4 count

  In each shopping center exceeding 50,000 square feet in gross floor area: (i) one bonus tenant panel shall be permitted for each 50,000 square feet in gross floor area, not to exceed four bonus tenant panels at the shopping center; and (ii) no bonus tenant panel shall exceed eight square feet in sign area.

• Bundle signs allowed by special use permitConditional useAllowed only after a discretionary approval — usually a public hearing and a board vote.1 count

  The freestanding signage permitted may include one off-site bundle sign allowed by special use permit under section 4.15.7(b).

  One menu sign per establishment having an approved drive-through lane that does not exceed 32 square feet.

• Projecting and wall signs allowed

  Each establishment may have both a projecting sign and a wall sign.

• Temporary sign area within VDOT projects48 sqftsq ftSquare feet. An acre is 43,560 sq ft; a typical suburban lot is 7,000–10,000.

  Temporary signs within the limits of Virginia Department of Transportation construction projects may have a sign area of up to 48 square feet as provided in section 4.15.6(c)(2)(c).
