Floodplain

  • Anchoring to resist flotation

    The structure shall be designed, anchored, and constructed to resist flotation, collapse, and lateral movement due to floodwaters.

  • Elevation certificate required

    The applicant shall submit an elevation certificate, prepared by a licensed professional surveyor, for all new construction and substantial improvements within the FH Overlay District.

  • Lowest floor elevation for residential structures

    The lowest floor, including the basement, shall be elevated to or above the base flood elevation.

  • Flood-resistant materials

    The structure shall be constructed with materials resistant to flood damage.

  • Utilities designed to minimize flood damage

    Electrical, heating, ventilation, plumbing, and air conditioning equipment and other service facilities shall be designed and/or located so as to prevent water from entering or accumulating within the components during conditions of flooding.
