Lighting

• Hours of illumination for institutional, commercial, and industrial uses adjacent to residential

  Institutional uses, commercial uses, and industrial uses that are adjacent to existing residential development shall extinguish all exterior lighting, except lighting necessary for security or emergency purposes, within one hour after closing and shall not turn on such lights until within one hour of opening.

• Maximum color temperature3,000 K

  All exterior lights shall be 3,000 Kelvin light color temperature or less.

• Maximum pole-mounted lighting heightMaximum heightThe tallest a building may be, given in feet, in storeys, or both — whichever binds first.20 ft

  Any pole-mounted exterior lighting shall not exceed a height of 30 feet in height in industrial districts and 20 feet in height in all other districts.

  The use of mercury vapor lights shall be prohibited in any exterior lighting applications, except for under-canopy lighting for gasoline pump islands, bank, or other drive-through or drive-in facilities.

• Full cutoff luminaire required

  Each outdoor luminaire subject to these outdoor lighting requirements shall be a full cutoff luminaire and aimed and controlled such that directed light is directed inward to the property and confined to the object intended to be illuminated.

• Maximum spillover light at adjoining streets, commercial, and mixed use0.5 fc

  Spillover light shall not exceed 0.5 foot candles at adjoining streets, commercial use, and mixed use and shall not exceed 0.1 foot candles at adjoining residential properties.
