CHAPTER 2.12 - COUNCILMEMBER SALARIES

2.12.010 - Authority. The ordinance codified in this chapter is enacted under Government Code section 36516(c) which authorizes a city council to provide by ordinance that each member of the council shall receive a salary not to exceed an amount equal to five percent for each calendar year from the operative date of the last adjustment of the salary. The last adjustment of the city council salary became effective in 1986 at which time the salary was set at three hundred dollars per month. As a result, pursuant to Government Code section 36516(c), the maximum city council salary that could become effective after November, 2002 election would be six hundred and fifty-five dollars per month.

2.12.020 - Salary. Following the November, 2002 election, each member of the city council shall receive a salary in the amount of six hundred and fifty-five dollars per month. The salary is payable at the same time and in the same manner as salary is paid to each of the officers and employees of the city.

2.12.030 - Expenses and addition. The salaries prescribed by this chapter are exclusive of any other amount payable to a member of the council as reimbursement for actual necessary expenses incurred by the member in the performance of official duties and is exclusive of any other benefits provided a member of the council.
